More structure - adding the base for the cliff

Dowels ready to be added for arms - I need to go buy some more to have all eight arms

Day 1, Part 1

All of my reference pictures

I started with 2 pieces of foam board

I drew out half of the statue body onto craft paper
I made sure to have a nice round shoulder to support all of those arms

Cut it out

Traced both sides by flipping my template

Cut out my statue body base out of one piece of foam board

Cut out a slot for the body base to go into on the other foam board

Both pieces put together

Added two wedges for support

The front

More support.  I used styrofoam to keep it light
Cut out the hole for the cave entrance

From behind, I'm leaving a boxed area for the cave to recess into later and for electronics to reside

Added a layer of paper mache over the base just to add a little more stiffness
Weighed down the edges to that they don't curl up on me
